    It is pretty deep stuff lol for most people anyway..it took me a while to write that and i value my time alot so i hope a few can see that behind the messy delivery there is complete sense and i like the way i do things..I appear stupid to people who cant read things without puncuation..they read a little and decide that im a fool and that they are much cleverer..only a few sentences in and that is what happens..i know that.and that is when they will stop or continue and feel ever greater with each word they read..because they write better they think they are better and these kind of people are like mr rich and it is the majority..but there are a few that arnt built that way and they either see a mess and stop or they read through and end up boggled..but just there curiosity is enough to tell them that they have seen something they have never seen.before

    The rich man and the poor man basically..both did things very different..rich man put it on diagnostic and said its tired...poor man test drove it and said theres nothing wrong and wouldnt take my money if i asked him too..poor man is one of the few men i meet once in a while i actually think he is a real man doing it the right way.not just gearboxes but everything and these kind of blokes am dying out leaving us with the rich man..shirted up and thinking hes too good for everyone..looking at me like dirt because i cant afford £1800 at once..grabbing everyones money and sitting behind a window like he doesnt want you near his personal space..i hate these kind of men with a passion..but hes got a carpark full of £2000 jobs..while poor man has a small unit and doesnt want to make anyone pay for sumat they dont need..I have never came across a mechanic like that

    Very late reply this one ! I came on here and my last post was still half written..not wonder i had no other replys! Before i drone on i just want to say,this site compared to bimmerforum is alot better,those guys seem to think their too good to answer questions for people who havent got A+ in literacy.I asked this question on there first and had 2 replys which were no help and made me look elsewhere and im glad i did top blokes on here So back to the point,i ended taking the car to another gearbox specialist for a second opinion.The difference with him was that on the phone he said bring it here i need to drive it and dont come at rush hour or when school finishes.I knew right away that this is kind of man who knows what he is doing and talks straight.So i ended taking it that evening at 4 o clock lol he had a workshop full.of tcs and we had a good chat waiting for his test driver.Strange i know but i knew he was good at what he did.The driver finally turned up took the keys and off he went.We continued chatting and it was nice to meet a mechanic i actually trusted and it turned out that him and driver are friends and the driver owns a garage over the road and he does the work for this guy after he has diagnosed it.Half hour passed and i was getting abit annoyed but we were still chatting and im not a small.talker at all and i was quite impressed by the guy and how cool he was having not worked for the last hour to talk to me and telling me that he doesnt fuck around like other garages.He said hes taking so long because he cant find nothing wrong with it,which i thought was bullshit as i know there is.He also said that the test route is 3.5 miles long including all types of roads and speeds.This is the important part im trying to explain and sounding like a ranting idiot.The difference in how these two garages do things is something to consider for all of us.The zf specialist i went to first needed me to drop the car off and leave it overnight while he tried to get it looked at.then phoned me the next day and said "its just tired mate,the oil level is fine but gear ratio has came up on diag,it needs a complete overhaul it will cost £1900 plus vat i could probly do you a deal if its pound notes but no receipt with that.So my day at work was quite shite after that call and i had to go fetch it that evening,when i got there the carpark was full.of high end cars and he was sitting in his office speaking to a.customer through a little window which was half slid open.taking the guys payment of probly a large amount,the receptionist was a hot blonde and i.mean hot.It was my turn now and he handed my keys back and said i have loads of cars in let me show you what we do..i followed him into the garage where at least 5 or 6 guys were working on benches..he showed me a gearbox and said it needs the bushes the tc refurbed etc..if you speak to gaffer he might be able to do it for 1700 if you flash the cash.I thought if you aint the gaffer who is ? You said you were and you have a shirt and tie on lol he then pointed out an audi s3 and said hes got some money him he has just had it wrapped it cost him a few grand and now his gearbox has gone..and he was quite happy to say that..i asked why my box is failing with 75000 miles on and he said theres a nissan juke over there with 15000 on and it needs and new box..i thought cheers mate good answer wheres my key? He got it and said dont leave it too long like the others do because once the light comes on it goes into limp mode and it.might end up.costing more lol Then this guy im standing with is in filthy overalls and has stopped working and had a good chat with me for an hour and the few i have mentioned about him so far are worlds apart from mr zf During the conversation he said if it gets too hot in here i tell the guys to pack up and we fuckoff home..how he brought the unit when it was built and has been there 30 years..asked him why he doesnt have the cars in his unit and he tells.me how he wasnt allowed to have a garage when he brought it....the guy comes back after half hour and says i cant find nothing wrong with it..and the other bloke says i told you lol then the pair of them proceeded to tell me not to worry about the big bill i was sweating..he said if these boxes slip 2 or 3 times just a little bit the light will come on so just keep driving it until.it gets worse and i can feel something wrong..i asked if i need it doing how do you do it and what parts are replaced..they both told me exactly whats needed and knew there stuff..he even said im not going to even say it could be this or that..if i dont find a.fault i wont repair anything..we dont rip people off.and im sure your thinking what the hell am i reading here..i started off quite normal and then slowly it went pair shaped...but i know that this story shows the vast difference between one man and another..and although my grammer is terrible,its not because i cant write correctly its because if you have alot to say you nees to write quick and its taken along time as it is..but i think a few of you may see the point through the shit storm literacy

    Fob stopped working

    Hello to all reading I just have a quick question regarding my key fob which has stopped working.It has always been weak and i have had to get within 3 or 4 metres for it work and it has now gave up.The spare key worked and was weak too but i started taking both out with me so i could try either,within 2 days i had lost the spare and i'm now stuck with just the one that doesnt work...I think all my karma is being waged on me in the form of a beautiful car that i always wanted! Any how my question is can i just the battery as a cheap fix instead of tackling the antenna? Not because i dont want to do things right its just the stack of jobs that need doing are like a weight around my neck at the moment and i could do without spending anything as my autobox needs to be serviced at the sweet cost of £1800 so every penny matters right now.I have seen a few videos of people doing it quite easily with a soldering iron and i just need your advice as to whether this is worth trying.I only have one key so you can imagine i dont want to mess it up lol and its the diamond key,which i have noticed not many e60s seem to have Thanks for any help chaps

    Im dont think mine has had any updates it has always jolted into 2nd at a sudden stop and from 2nd to 3rd Zf may just wamt the business why wouldnt they.Gearboc specialist said that the new oil could have caused the seals to go as the old oil would be like treacle so thats from the horses mouth

    Yes i think something is disturbed during the service i wouldnt advise it unless it has high mileage and is showing signs of wear.Mine was just abit jerky maybe an update for £90 should be the first port of call before going for £400 service that may cause more issues than it solves Its an expensive lesson to learn but i have seen a few posts where people have just changed tc and and had good results for £700 ish.Just got to decide if its a chance i want to risk or whether to cut my losses now Cheers for all your replies chaps

    I agree it may be the last for me too.They look lovely but thats as far as it goes lol Its nice when there driving without fault but that doesnt last long before there is a stack of jobs racking up.Its getting uncomfortable too banging over everything...maybe i am realising i hate the thing ha Maybe i should sell it tomorrow so someone else has a horrid friday the 13th haha joking i have just got to take the loss and sell it cheap iv learnt my lesson

    I took the car to a zf specialist tuesday he said it needs to be refurbed at £1900 plus vat.That includes recon tc,bushes,clutches plates and new oil,he said its just tired and gear ratio is all that came up on diagnostics For me its a hard pill to swallow i paid £6000 for it last september i have had glow plugs,lower arm, discs, service and gearbox service and now gearbox fails at 75000 miles,throttle actuator needs doing at £397,rear brake shoes are grabbing may need whole new rear brakes on rear around £400 along with track rod end im just disapointed with bmw.My e36s didnt have these kind of issues and they were years old.The car doesnt seem to have been abused What options do i have ? Could i try just the tc recon and new oil for £800 or cut my losses and part ex,They are money pits lol

    Well if thats the case the bmw specialist will be footing the bill or i will be footing his ass No drag racing off the lights and i dont think the car has been abused at all so maybe your right about the oil used

    Maybe i shouldnt have had a service after all.The first car iv decided to take some precautionary measures on and its still going tits up.My moto was buy them cheap and drive them into the ground i think i may have to adopt that moto again :D

    I have read a few posts about people having their tcs done by sussex and after refitting they have the exact same problems.It is a risk if you then have to have it done again the bill will be equal to having a new one i would think

    I have heard about that additive but how bad it is slipping now it must be something serious.I am having to drive it in manual and in the lowest gear.Is there amy damage that can be caused by still driving it like this ?

    All my problems seem to have occured following the service maybe i should have just left it alone
