    Increased Emmissions

Ok Thanks for your reply. Do you think its worth cleaning EGR? Had a quick look, and seems i need someone with DIS software to reset the DPF code

    Increased Emmissions

2008 e61 530D had a warning pop up yesterday saying ‘Increased Emissions ‘ read off the codes using Icarly app and the following codes popped up 004501 00452A also checked DPF readings and soot was about 20g and Ash was about 40g. not sure if it has anything to do with it, but also had a lot of bad weather here, so had to drive through a lot of water. any suggestions of where to start looking??

    E61 - Tyre Pressure

I know this has been asked a thousand times, but i have a 2008 E61 530D running Non-run flat tyres (245/40 r18) I set the tyre pressures as per the plate on the inside of door. I have had the tyres for approx 6 months and travel 400 miles per week. when checking tyres, i noticed that the front tyres are still in excellent condition, but the rear tyres have worn down to indicators in the centre of the tyres. Edges of still still in good condition. Looks like they over inflated. What pressures are everyone else running in the rear tyres?
  5. I recently changed my Daytime running lights (H8 fitment), as the RH side one failed. I changed them to a set of MTEC cosmic blue version (non LED), a week later, the RH side has blown again. has anyone seen this problem, or is it just a coincidence?? Anything that could be causing this to happen?

    Dreaded DPF warning

Hi All, just curious how or when the car knows it needs to regen. Only asking as i been watching soot levels. On the first 40 mile trip home last night, soot level rose from 3 grams to 9 grams. Then on my way in to work today (another 40 miles) soot rose from 9 grams to approx 17 grams. Is this normal??

Yeah, out of the 40 miles each way to work, only 4 miles is non Motorway/dual carriageway. I think keeping the revs at 2000 instead of 3000 rpm did the trick. Coolant temp on hidden menu, didn't drop below 87 degrees Thanks

    Dreaded DPF warning

Yes, I'l be keeping a an eye on it. I travel 80 miles per day for work, so in theory should be plenty of time to regen. I have now got the DIS and INPA software, but struggling to get the DIS to work

    Dreaded DPF warning

Well im hoping that this is the end of my DPF troubles for now. After everyone's advice (which i'm grateful for), I drove to work this morning, clearing 480A fault just before i hit the motorway and run car at 65mph at 2000 revs (5th gear). Couldn't tell that anything was happening except that the 480A fault did not re-appear in the 40 minute drive. When i got to work, i wasn't very hopeful as it didn't feel like anything was happening, but though i'd check anyway using Carly. Soot levels had dropped from approx 50g (initially approx 70g) to 3.67g and 'Regeneration Requested' has gone from 8.00 to 0.00 So just wanted to update and say THANK YOU to everyone who give me advice on getting it to clear. I will be keeping an eye on this now. ha-ha

    Dreaded DPF warning

Ok cheers, I think the cause of it, was my throttle control valve connector was loose after having my swirl flaps removed. teah the 480a is the only fault returning now

    CARLY

Does anyone know if il be able to do a forced regen if I buy the full Carly app but use my obd2 WiFi dongle. it allows me to read and clear codes. only asking as i’d Like to run car over week end so so Carly adaptor would not be back in time

    Dreaded DPF warning

Reading about regen and was wondering is it better to just get car to do driving regen or is it the same to force one??

    Dreaded DPF warning

as Gonzo said above, my engine temp was still lower while holding at 3000 revs, soon as I flicked it back into auto coming off motorway, engine temp climbed back up to usual temp of 88 to 90 so I’m confused now

    Dreaded DPF warning

Well I managed to clear code with Carly, kept checking while it was do the engine pulsing thing that I said about above, and there was no code for about 30 minutes travelling down M4, soon as I got off m4 and had to slow down, the code re-appeared.
