    F07 Summer Tyre recommendations

Thanks Dan. No idea why I didnt do that in the first place If any admin bods around can you please delete. Cheers
  2. Hi, Looking at taking my winter tyres off for some new summer ones for my F07. I currently have 245/50/18s fitted. Can anyone recommend a decent tyre to go for - with the massive variance in prices it's hard to know what to go for especially when the ratings seem pretty much the same. I'd love to go for a spare set of rims but cant afford the outlay for both just yet. Thanks in advance

  4. Hi guys, thanks for the replies. A couple of things to think about there. I've found my alloy type from this site and they're apparently 238s which is nice to know. I think an outlay on another set of alloys will have to wait unless I see something on ebay or for sale on here. cant really justify £1500 at the moment for a second set. Any recommendations for a decent set of summer tyres? And is it quite easy to have the tyres swapped over at a garage? Still plenty of tread on my existing winters. I'll probably go with the official Satnav Upgrade - I have the Pro system. Definitely going to look at the reversing camera solution. Took me an embarassing 5 minutes parking today at work (not to say the cameras will help my parking abilities) cheers billy
  5. Hi ll, I posted in the newbie thread with some questions before realising that that wasnt the place to post, so I'll try again here and hopefully get an answer or two as I'm totally new to the BMW world. The cars a nice white F7 2011 3l GT SE with 89,000 miles on it. Nice white interior. I know the GT's not everyone's cup of tea but I really like it's looks. each to their own though Any advice/tips and tricks/warnings would be much appreciated as I know nothing about it really. I have Satnav and Bluetooth but have no idea if they are pro or basic - any idea how to find out ( as its the SE I presume they'll be basic) . I have the cradle in the front armrest for a phone that I doubt I'll be using. Is there some sort of attachment to put an old S7 into it? Or a way of removing the plastic for more space? The Satnav is 2010 so I've been looking at ways to get it updated without having to sell a kidney. I'm quite computer savvy, but are their any recommendations for recent ebay sellers that will supply a validation code? Followed a link on here but I think that had been closed down. I'd like to upgrade to get the reversing cameras fitted if possible as its not the slimmest of beasts to fit in anywhere and the viewing is pretty poor. Are there any recommended Indys around the Glasgow/Hamilton areas to have a look at that are recommended. I've had B&M mentioned so will maybe look at getting it in there. Just looking at avoiding the main dealers. Also, is there a list of upgrade options available anywhere? I'd like to get the boot auto opening all the way from the remote if possible. Can the remote be programmed (is this the coding people mention) so that the boot opening press, opens the big boot up instead of the baby boot? Also can the bottom button be programmed to do something other than turn the courtesy lights on? How hard is it to code the mirrors to fold when I turn the engine off/ignition off? The car has come with winter tyres fitted (Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D) Runflats at 245/50/R18. Is this the correct tyre type for these... and never having put winter tyres on before (I previously had a Supra which went to bed after November until April ) is it a necessity to change these pretty much as soon as the weather gets above 3 or 4 degrees? Any recommendations for tyres or probably more realistically a set of alloys and decent tyres. At a reasonable price. I kinda like the alloys I have on there at the moment so I might just keep them for summer and get some cheap alloys for the winter runs. Does anyone have a clue what type of alloy they are? I've had them refurbed in a ferrari type grey/anthracite already. Next service is in 16000 miles or jan 2019 Is there anything I should be dreading for that service? Lot of questions I admit but any help appreciated. Many thanks Billy

    Newbie with an oldie

Hi all, picked up my first ever BMW last week just before the bad weather hit so only really getting to know it now. traded in my boring passat as I couldnt live with it any more. prior to that I've had a Saab Aero, a toyota Supra, and a Honda Prelude 2.8i. The cars a nice white F7 2011 3l GT with 89,000 miles on it. Nice white interior. I know the GT's not everyone's cup of tea but I really like it's looks. each to their own though Any advice/tips and tricks/warnings would be much appreciated as I know nothing about it really. I have Satnav and Bluetooth but have no idea if they are pro or basic - any idea how to find out. I have the cradle in the front armrest for a phone that I doubt I'll be using. I'd like to upgrade to get the reversing cameras fitted if possible as its not the slimmest of beasts to fit in anywhere and the viewing is pretty poor. (And, yeah ok, I'm rubbish at reversing) Is it best to do this through BMW as part of a package or get an indy to do it. Speaking of which are there any recommendations for garages for servicing in and around the Glasgow area? Also, is there a list of upgrade options available anywhere? I'd like to get the boot auto opening all the way from the remote if possible. And lastly, what is the bottom button on the remote for. Reading through the manual I think it says it opens the "big boot" but mine doesnt seem to do anything. If this is too much for the "introduce yourself" bit please let me know and I'll edit and raise a new thread with queries. cheers Billy
