  1. I have had this problem with my bmw f10 vibrating when braking or driving over a certain speed that has been driving me nutts since September last year and has now been solved after £1800's spent on it! It turns out that when I had my wheels powder coated they had not masked the back of the alloy properly so the powder coat had run around the edge of the wheel that sits on the hub! So that when you put the wheel back onto the hub it was not sitting flush up to it because of the powder coating. The garage that figured it out then cleaned the back of the wheel with a circular wire brush then he had to skim the brake discs and put new pads on and now it's been perfect for the passed 3 months!! I went back to the powder coated and kicked off as £1800 is a lot of money and he said it's a common problem with bmw s! nothing to do with him not checking the wheels after he'd powder coated them! Drove a bit smoother but I did not know the bearings had gone until I went to another garage and he took it for a drive on motorway at about 60mph and steered slightly to the left then right and you could hear a slight whistling noise which means your bearings are knackered.

Hi Mike!I have had all the above done ot checked aswell as 4x new tyres pads and discs all round (brembo). But i did go to a different garage last thursday and the bloke said he had a f10 in with the same problem a couple of months earlier and it turned out to be wheel hub stroke bearings.! He also said due to me having had a warped disc (front right) that it would cause the bearings to knacker/wheel hub if not changed straight away. Will post next week when.ive had mine done!

Had it to a different garage today and the bloke said that he had a f10 bmw in roughly 2 months ago with the exact same problem as me and he spent a small fortune like me on pads discs tyres ECT and it turned out it was the wheel hub bearings that was causing the problem due to a warped disc knackering them. So I have my car in on Tuesday to get both front ones done as when he checked it on a machine you could hear it. Went to bmw £520 +vat for two then fitting!! Got 2 febi ones £210 for the pair so we will see what happens on Tuesday.

  8. can anyone help me? ive got a 2011 bmw 5 series m sport and when i brake at 70-80mph i get a bad vibration through my brake pedal and steering wheel plus i also get a vibration at 75mph on cruise control. ive had 4 new tyres fitted and balanced 4 different times, wheel alignment 4 times, new brembo pads and discs back and front and just had the alloys checked for buckles which 3 wheels were (now buckles done) but still got this vibration and its driving me mad. i've been to 4 different garages and all have said brake discs but they have only been on for 3 weeks so surely cant be them?? can anyone help please?? one garage did say you can only put genuine discs and pads on a bmw 5 series m sport due to the chassis and that brembo are no good??
