    E39 540i Sport - Delivery at Last!

Loadmaster, you might want to consider an exhaust change to let the car make a better noise!

What did you do to your E39 today ?

Hi folks. I'm new to this forum, but have done >200k miles in e39s ... not to mention another 200k miles in e30/e36s. Today I replace pads all round (Pagid, £42.99 from ECP), cleaned the disks up (bit of a lip forming), and adjusted the handbrake while I was at it. The car recently passed MoT, but as there wasn't much meat left on the pads, I decided to save the sensors!

WANTED front brake disc back plates/dust shields

No problem. I had a quick look as I replaced them on my son's e46 a while ago. There was a multitude of 3 series ones, so I thought that it might be similar for ours. 'just goes to show! Definitely a dearth of e39 backing plates. Was it an elongation of the aperture for the handbrake locating spring, by any chance, that requires you to change them?

The RHS is a bit more expensive ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/BMW-Genuine-Front-Brake-Disc-Back-Protection-Plate-Right-E39-34111162956/1309506211?iid=181864276950

    E39 for sale 23K

That's just mental! I'm a huge e39 fan, but at that money, I'd be looking for a mint, low mileage M5.

    525d turbo vs 530d turbo

My 525d's turbo whistled for nearly 200k miles, and was still making the noise when I "retired" it at 296k miles. So it doesn't always follow that a whistle is terminal. Good luck with yours.
