What did you do to your E60/61 today?

Retrofitted high beam assist today, finished off my cracked windscreen fighting to get the new mirror on so I booked a new one on the insurance. It needed doing anyway...

    535D turbo issues

This guy, he tunes the car, no generic maps. He has agents dotted around as well so worth asking. https://www.facebook.com/gbwtuning/

Where do you live m8, you need someone to pop round with BMW diagnostics to run the bleeding program. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Variable vane turbo, the 535 doesn't have that as it uses 2 turbos instead.

You need to vacuum test where the pipe connects to the vac pump, only way to rule it out. I have an inexpensive kit for this reason.

    Another DPF mystery thread

Soot is related to back pressure. As for my 90-120 odd mile regens I am currently on 246 miles with 30g of soot since fitting the new inlet manifold and reinstating the flaps. I have not watched what happens when I turn the engine off as I only installed Torque the other day to view soot readings. ISTA doesn't show it for some reason unless when it logs a fault.

Do you still have swirl flaps?
  9. Yes but I can't remember where off hand, something about voltage control and it shows the last 5 days.

    Pinout diagram of iPod Changer

I had an odd one over the weekend, guy said he took the cd changer plug out as it no longer worked, the car has a MOST break fault logged. I couldn't find the wiring for the changer anywhere, all I could find with what looked like BMW loom tape was the optical leads and power plug without the main plug carrier taped right next to the MOST diagnostic port. I gave up looking after an hour.
  11. Don't worry about it, the car calculates using everything but the date it was fitted. Batteries stop accepting charge and it knows this, it also uses the voltage drop when cold cranking to determine expected remaining life. The reset won't hurt it. I fitted a used BMW one that was 11 months old, reset it and it has been fine. It soon settled at 96% life left.

What did you do to your E60/61 today?

The plot thickens, some serious bodge work at play, rear demister earth broke so they put it to the hinge, someone then decided to go for broke and run an earth to the other loom on the right that I have yet to open. I have started the earth repair on the left hinge and stuck a repair connector in one side of the washer pipe. Once the pipe is back in place I will put adhesive lined heat shrink over it as that is the BMW repair, the 4mm barbed connector is to double up on the repair as that section will outlive this car! The spaghetti above the battery has been split to break the glass hatch switch connection as it randomly pops open, I have confirmed the switch is fubar as it stops once unplugged. Cap was taken off and switch cleaner sprayed in but that didn't help so I need to split the contact to see if it savable. I will be fitting a switch on the boot to break the connection to tide him over until he wants to spend £50 on a switch. I get the feeling I will be replacing the other 3 looms.

    Brake fluid change

One of the worse cars I have ever bled after changing the brake servo, due to the diameter of the main pipe to the DSC unit you can't pump fast enough even with a unit that will do the 25 psi required (pressure bleeder connected and pumping the brakes as per the manual) You have to run a special program that uses the DSC to draw it through faster, it was a right pain in the arse. A standard bleed is easy enough though, you should always run the program to purge the DSC unit ideally although I can't see it being an issue if you don't have diagnostics. I have a set of these, one should fit onto the brake line to stop it leaking. https://www.buyaparcel.com/p/draper-28834-expert-4-piece-fluid-stop-set/
