    Stereo Removal issues

That doesn't bode well then. Did your lock mechanism break then Marc_86 ? I don't think pushing brom underneath will free it, so is it a destroyer mentality i need or get the experts in? Just don't want to ruin the rest of the car. l love my E39!

    Stereo Removal issues

Oh how easy it looks! Popped off volume knob, found hole and perfect fit screwdriver. Have a 2 din radio cassette unit in 03 plate tourer. Radio was stuck on right hand side. Popped off wood style trim and tried. No joy. Next attempt went very wrong! Screwdriver went in and heard metal go 'ping' and now cannot see slot. think mechanism broken. How do i get stereo out now??? Looks like garage job. Not up for removing all dashboard myself. Any ideas? Really want to get my Christmas present replacement fitted. Cheers DrD. Cirencester

    Intermittent Cluster issue?

OK, feedback folks- my engineer says it is in the light control module. he cleared the warnings and things worked fine for a bit but he couldn't get in to that module. Think it goes back to the apparent, well known wiring in the boot hinge break issue which is potentially shorting out and confusing the module. Need to get the wiring checked as per many other pages in the forum and replace lengths of wiring to see if we can reset it properly and clear the system down compleletely. Just goes to show that the electrics are a minefield of confusion. Will report back in a week or two once work done to let folks know the outcome of everything. Thanks for all your comments guys. DrD

    Replace stereo tape unit

Mine is a 2 din d_a_n1979 osealy, I am keen to know if the bluetooth is awful in other folks vehicles too then :-/ I have android 6.0.1 moto g4 phone I want to hook up and play music from. I think then, from my initial call that I can safely say the Halfords guy got confused about the cable needed to do the steering controls and it isn't going o cost £117 for the cable.

    Intermittent Cluster issue?

OK, so newbie question - if i unplug the wabesto heater (or is it webasto?) what do I lose? Or do you mean clean off multi plug and protect it in a bag?

    Replace stereo tape unit

Thanks osealy, what one did you go for. Is it a stereo too or just sat nav? If stereo, do the steering controls stilll work?

    Replace stereo tape unit

Hi folks. I have looked for similar details but cannot find an exact match but apologies if I missed it. I want to replace my tape deck in my 03 plate 525d tourer. Wandered along to Halfords and spoke to a guy there about the units. Happy to go for a radio with bluetooth for my android phone and was old the Kenwood 700 with DAB radio and bluetooth hands free would be good fit, but was then told my bumper sensors would stop working as they go through the stereo. Stereo costs £117 or so and then the lead to make the sensors work again would be about the same! Not seen anyone say this si so anywhere else, so coming to the experts here is this the case? Will it cost me anohter £100 or so for a decent radio with bluetooth? I was going to go CD player, but as i use android phone a lot, putting music on that and pairing seems easier option for me. TIA DrD.

    Intermittent Cluster issue?

Newbie here! Got a 2003 525d tourer recently and love it. Until last week I get the self levelling light come on on start up some times which also means no volume control on sterring wheel, no clock and to 'tick' sound on indicators (but they do work), also ne bumper sensors. This cam on and then stopped for almost a week. I tried the second key as I wondered if this was the issue, but neither now fixes issue. Wondered if it was damp. Would removal of cluster and contact spray and reseat connectors be first stop? Any ideas gratefully taken on board as love the drive of my new, old car and having bought it last month, dosh is not flowing to spend £800 on new cluster if possible. Many thanks. DrD.
