    E28 Head Lights Removal question?

Cheers guys, got a mate around with an Impact driver and P3 head...worked a treat! Holders are all out at last! Next question, about to get the holder cleaned and painted, do these final two holders come apart on the high beam lens side? Im just loathe to put too much pressure on older parts. I have all new alignment clips but keen to retain all the rest of the working parts. Is there a nack to doing it? The captive bolt seems to moulded into the square plastic adjuster. It will make life easier for cleaning and painting.
  7. Right guys, am in the process or replacing the plastic clips that the adjustment levelers use. In this process I am removing the whole light pods on both sides to clean and refurbish. I've hit a stumbling block. It looks like no one has been in here before in 32 years! Right now three of the eight screws are moving, for the life of me the others are not budging. For 48hours now i have had them soaking in numerous spray liquids such as WD40, Halfords Shock remover and a lovely Polish equivalent and still no joy, Ive broken one large screwdriver already! My palms are starting to blister from pressure on the screw driver and still no joy. Any other tips? If i do go at them with an extractor bit the holder clips are coming up on realoem as NLA...whats my options? Has anyone used something off the shelf or similar to replace? Front view From the rear, these retaining clips are NLA according to RealOem Thanks guys in advance...

    Temperature gauge

I am assuming this is a similar avenue I need to explore to sort my recently stopped working MPG gauge?

1985 E28 M535i in Zinnerbot Red, manual, 90k miles, FSH, Black leather interior. Its tidy and clean enough, small spot of rust on front wing which is getting sorted and then off for a two day detail and paint correction. Original wheels are in the shed, sitting on some Style 5's at moment. Very happy with it, rare enough over this side of the pond. Its all E30's here! A change of direction motoring wise for me, always had Mitsubishi's and many Evo's. Its a nice change from turbo lag to have a usable power band!

    Spark Plug Leads

The oldish guy in my local parts store also said the same, people left them in longer under the impression they lasted 4xlonger How much are you looking for the used Magnecor? Would you mind posting to Ireland if I went down that route? What colour are they in? Out of interest who is best to get new Magnecor leads from? Bavarian Auto stateside do a set for $129, anyone any experience with these? Also a new Dizzy cap from them is $61 Thanks for the replies, good to hear from the experts....

    Spark Plug Leads

Hi you all, my M535i has had a very slight lumpy idle and also a hesitation through say 5000rpm, very brief but its there and noticeable. Anyways as the spark plugs were an unknown to me I set about the task of replacing them, well as we all know one job leads into another. The leads are disintegrating in my hands, I have two out, one boot is split/torn whilst the other had the wire loosely pushed into the top of the spark boot. These could be my issues, along with the 4 pronged Super Plus plugs that are coming out! So anyways, before I get stung by my local dealer for original ones are there any aftermarket leads such as Magnecor that work as well? Thanks in advance Mike

Hi all, signed up to this place as it seems to have a lively E28 section. Have had an E28 M535i for a while now. Its in decent condition and it gets driven occasionally. I'm off now to read through the stack of posts in here! Thanks Mike
