I've got a late Evo getting ready to be sold, it is SMG that's why I asked. It's going to be up for more than your £7k budget but to an enthusiast I would let it go for less than I would publicly market it for. I think with the exception of the SMG it will tick all of your boxes, for a totally stock original M3 convertible and I mean as it left the factory E36 you've got to be anticipating a £10k minimum outlay. Mines got the addons aswell, factory hard top, wind deflector etc etc. If you can stretch to a bigger budget you can come and have a look if you want, even if you don't buy it at least you've got a bit of a bench mark.

    Is SMG an option?

I know, I wouldn't see it, I'd never put diesel in it and it'd never get used, a total waste of money, makes no sense to buy it…but I love it.

Yes made by Belino in the US for BMW. Quite rare and discontinued a few years ago, sits inside the spare wheel as in the top photo.

I got them off eBay. The seller was duped into buying a set for a RHD car and just wanted them gone, he stuck them on eBay and had accepted my offer of £40 within 30 minutes of the auction going live. So expensive from main dealer but make a massive difference.

Cheers fellas, difficult to see the colour really in the covered light but considering the bluewater is quite light there is a lot of depth & am I right in saying its a bit of a marmite colour? Anyway loving the car, don't know why I waited this long. I've had e30, e36 & e46 but the e39 is a different beast altogether.

Hello all. New to the forum and to the e39. My first 5 series and what can I say, I love this era of BMW motoring and the e39 is a little bit special. I was looking for a 530d se, had to be factory standard with the option of a few discrete enhancements when I was ready. Anyway managed to acquire a 525d se with good mileage, standard and with a solid history. I've had it for just under a month, had a good service, repaired the standard e39 niggles, acquired the alloys that's on it now and it's booked in for a bit of paint and a little preventive maintenance under the hood. Managed to source a set of OE mats from Holland for a RHD the interior is finished off then. Excuse the shoddy location for the photos, it's the works car park but I'm sure you don't mind.
