  1. My a/c is on all the time. Partly because its an F10 so I can notice straight away when it stops working, again. Lol, I don't complain about mpg, if I did I wouldn't drive the cars I do.

Well if you have you might want to think about next time you go to charge it up as apparently it can be thwarted by a Creme egg. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-44561039 Oh how I laughed.
  4. So if I drive with my a/c on all the time I wouldn't need to rely on that sensor as in theory the window should be 'Fog' free?

Bmw 5 series e60 2003 engine over heating

A clue as to what engine is in your E60 would help. Assuming you have an oil cooler it could be a fault in the oil cooler lines or thermostat. Could just be a faulty oil cooling sensor.
  6. Just rig up a hose from your F10 vents into your house......assuming your air con works of course.

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

No but I do know that even if you make a no fault claim and have protected no claims bonus....it still rises! So yeah you are forked Mike.

Amen to that brother! Our littl'un isn't well at the moment so she was up 5 times between 2:45 am and 5:30 am this morning. I get up at 6:15am.

So what you are saying categorically is that in no way can you blame your wife for any of this?

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Yup mine turns 4 in a few weeks time. How the hell did that happen? She was a baby when I bought the F10......

    Into reverse and floored it?

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Harsh, lol but we've all been there, trying to manoeuvre the car in a tight spot while there is this constant siren in your ear which you ignore and sometimes it then bites you on the ass or the ass of the car in this case.

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Oh no Mike. Interesting call to the insurance company, "yes hello, I'd like to claim against, well me...."

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Indeed, or we will need to add it to the growing list of faults on this generation of 5. Keep us posted on how the fix goes.

How on earth did that happen @IINexusII?

    Rear shock replacement

When I got my rear Spring replaced under warranty I should have got a new lower strut to hub bolt and three new top mount nuts. Lower bolt did not look new. I did not get a break down of the parts fitted under warranty like you would have if you were paying. Similar every time a new a/c condenser is fitted, the strut brace needs to come out and sure enough you are meant to replace the nuts. Not that they looked new on mine after the condenser job.

    F11 jacking up vehicle

I'm not convinced that the jack pads you but have a tall enough piece to go into the jack point. The plastic jack point pieces fitted to the car are stiffened and spread the load over a big area on the chassis. Either way I think you will be fine.

    Rear shock replacement

Bmw will tell you to replace nuts and bolts, but when you get your local BMW dealer to do this work under warranty they reuse the old nuts and bolts.

    F11 jacking up vehicle

Yup agree with that. I use them to jack up my car. A decent trolley jack with a big wide rubber pad on it will be fine without one of the pads above which are just made from a hockey puck.
  20. I sheared the caliper cradle bolts on my Senator on my 22nd Birthday. Ended up with a new hub, steering knuckle and lower wishbone as others things went very wrong. I spent the first few weeks of being 22 very skint after paying for that lot. It would be very different now. I have more knowledge and better tools that would have prevented damage to the other components......

    E60 gearbox slipping

Lol did you buy it and take it apart? Isn't there a number of things that fail that can lead to clutch failure? Not my heavy right foot......

540i one week in advice/help please

Lol which part are you wishing? A 4.8 can't be that much more thirsty than the 4.4. Granted if the tankful is mostly burned on the motorway 28mpg is achievable. Short runs in poor weather and its 22-24 mpg. But 15 mpg no way, not on mine.

    E60 gearbox slipping

Mackie's pushed the sleeve on me! I wish I had asked them to do my bridge seals but by that time my clutches would have been worn, perhaps lasting a few more x,000 miles rather than the x00 miles instead. £40 for the sleeve is about going rate by the time you pay for the labour to fit it!
  24. I bought a 38mm crows foot spanner for doing the inner track rods on my E60. It is 3/4" drive. But that's it in my tool box. 3/4" drive stuff will be a bit big for wielding about on a car. Some suspension joints perhaps. I gave up using 3/8" drive stuff and went for 1/4" drive set up to get in to do the F10 infamous yellow grommet.
  25. Lol, I thought you were going say you sheared a bolt or something... 3/4" is a bit big, don't you mean 3/8" for the 7mm bit.
