  1. Refurbishing alloys with plastic centre caps

It's best to blast them if you can. It's the only way to properly clean in all the nooks and crannies.
  2. VIN Code finder

Lol imagine that, asking for help with a BMW on a BMW forum! Likewise, Merc are underwritten by Mondial too think!
  3. Refurbishing alloys with plastic centre caps

Sprayed to match the powder coated wheels but get them done by the same folk at the same time. When I got my alloys powder coated they came back a shade or two darker than OEM, so make sure the powder coat colour matches the spray colour as they are very different processes so you don't want to get a difference in shades. Cheap BMW crap, plastic centre caps, my BBS 15" cross spoke alloys on my Senator had alloy centre caps screwed on with a locking bolt.
  4. What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Left it in the driveway again and went out in my mums F30. Nah not for me, no Xenons, no high beam assist, no flappy paddles on the steering wheel, no heated seats, no internal boot release, no option to combine/match each side of the heater controls, no speed limit function. I use these lots in my F10. But it does have pro nav, which I didn't need but mostly Xdrive which was reassuring in today's weather and winter tyres. I'll stick to my F10, if I ever went to a three it would need to have loads of toys as I'm clearly spoilt in my F10!
  5. VIN Code finder

Cheers, sshooie, that's the one I found a few weeks back but apparentlyI should have googled it rather than asking on here for help as that's what you are meant to do according some on here but it's always good when someone
  6. Tire reccomends

All weather tyres, try Michelin Cross Climates. They get a good write up. Plenty of online websites to help you choose, inc adding options like rim protectors which I wanted to save my 19" rims from the kerbs and potholes. Buy online get delivered to your door and take to favoured tyre fitter for max savings and no damage to your rims. Don't skimp on tyres. You want to spend money on tyres not save it.
  7. F07 Air Springs

I tend to write the description then post the photo for that text, then text for the next description, then that photo. That way, you know you have the photos that match the text. What you experienced is what's happened to me before, its almost as if they get uploaded in file name order (photo 1 , photo 2, photo 3 etc) the order you took them with your camera, but that might not be the order you then do your write up in.
  8. What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

I remember you selling them as they are the same set up that I have. Until this winter I never drove a car with winters in snow, but the water shedding abilities of winter tyres can be advantageous at this time of year. I live in a particularly wet part of the world so find them useful but the best thing about them is they are far more forgiving in the potholed roads out my way with their 17" rims instead of my billiard table liking 19" rims.
  9. What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Exactly. So is having four wheel drive and winters worth it? Not if like your gaffer and the road you are on is blocked by HGVs who have come to grief, no amount of winter tyres or 4x4 capability will help you out if you physically can't go anywhere. But it will give piece of mind. And I accept that.
  10. Aircon in winter

I leave my AC on all the time since I had the aircon condenser replaced on my F10, a known weak point on the F10, (one of many) this is for two reasons. It's better to leave it on for all the reasons mentioned before and secondly, because it's an F10 I want to know when it stops working again. Never noticed a difference in mpg, but I don't care about mpg anyway.
  11. Any LCD TV experts here?

I really like my new 4k tv, the smart functionality is terrific having come from one that really wasn't smart. That means the littl'un can watch endless episodes of Bing, Peter Rabbit and Gigglebiz. Occasionally I can watch The Grand Tour on it. But yes to answer the original question, yes it's scrap.
  12. What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

I left mine behind this morning as I got a lift in my mums F30 320i Xdrive shod with winters. We were able to safely pass a Nissan Micra spinning its wheels up on a slight incline. Four wheel drive and winter tyres, great combination. Granted it's the first time in the three years she has owned it that she needed four wheel drive and winter tyres.......
  13. Upcoming Service

Yup, I only found out about the MOT protect last week when mine went in for its 5 year old so third MOT. Mine has the 5 year 50,000 mile service plan, which I knew about but not the third MOT protect. I was told if it failed on anything from a spring to a bulb it would be fixed at no cost to me. And the dealer was having a January sale so it only cost my £34! And they for once did a good job washing it and I've got another years ticket on it.
  14. Winter advice from the AA....

There I've edited your post to correct it.
  15. What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Likewise, my Dunlop 3Ds are great in the snow, very sure footed. But you still need to go canny as I felt a wiggle on a bend that had me clench in the E60 in the snow!
  16. Full size 18" MV2 alloy in the spare well

It can be done but I think you will need to do a bit of surgery to the trims etc that sit in there whilst still protecting all the electrical boxes of wizardry that are in the well too.
  17. Kumho Ecsta PS91 tyres

Good wet braking, that's what you want.
  18. What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Was that Pug trying to keep it all in house I wonder? Only ever seen them on small Pugs a few years ago now. I could never understand their logic in doing it that way as very few places as you said could actually balance them. Nitrogen filled tyres....hmmm. I'm content with only 78% of the air in my tyre being Nitrogen.
  19. F07 Air Springs

I think someone on here would say, "ISTA is your friend" for a job like that! But a good 'how to do' from a person who has actually wielded the spanners is better as there will be more pictures! Dont rush out and replace all your bushes. Get them checked out, slight movement is fine, but if something is amiss it will be obvious when prodding at it with a small lever. Bushes quite often appear as advisories long before there is enough movement to fail them. Ball joints will fail more quickly, again giving vague handling and clonks. The rear suspension on these cars have many bushes and balljoints. That's why they handle so well but the trade off is that you are likely to need to replace them as mileage mounts up.
  20. What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Sounds like you are just paying too much for your tyres!
  21. What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Playing with settings in ISTA? Mines too light and I've never liked it. I really noticed how much lighter my dads 530d F10 was compared to my E60 when he first got his F10, my F10 is lighter again than my dads.
  22. Selling old car magazines

Didn't realise I still had a box of old car magazines at my folks house. I came home to find a box my mum had brought round of mainly Top Gear magazines from the late 1990s. Christ, how cars have changed! I'm guessing that there is next to hee haw market for these old magazines on eBay? The cost to ship/post alone is a few quid. Or do I make them into paper logs and burn them in my stove?
  23. F07 Air Springs

Yeah its an option, but its not like the Prelude system which had a conventional steering rack. The BMW one just moves the rear wheels slightly on all the bushes, probably wearing them out faster......
  24. What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Threw a snow shovel in the boot this morning. Impressively I got this in the boot, without having to poke it thru the ski hatch, I'm fairly sure it was too long to fit in the E60 boot.
  25. Wheal Bearing - Does Brand matter?

If you are at the wrong end of the M8 from me, where are you going to get your box serviced?
