    ABS Module beyond repair!

At long last, an update on the ABS problem! Got the car back today, no warning lights and a nice new shiny M.O.T, (needs taxing at the end of the month, so was getting worried). The steering angle sensor did need initialising, cost £60 for that. It's cost £140 for s/h ABS Unit off Tim, £65 for ECU Testing to tell me old unit was beyond repair, and the £60 coding, plus whatever John at the garage charges me for the work he's done. One advisory on M.O.T., play in an anti roll bar ball joint, nr/side front, so not bad for a 16 year old car! A few niggly things to sort out now, steering wheel and drivers seat won't adjust, just dead, door open warning keeps flashing up and courtesy light don't always work with the doors. Probably a few more things I've forgotten about as well. Also want to get the 4 wheel alignment done. Regards.....Dave.

    ABS Module beyond repair!

Well, I've ordered the ABS Unit off Tim, great bloke to deal with, highly recommended. Does anyone know whether it will need coding, Tim seems to think not. If it does, what is involved, will my garage be able to do it? They are an independent RR/Bentley Specialist. Regards....Dave.

    ABS Module beyond repair!

I was slightly taken aback when I heard the price, to say the least, even with £245 off for the duff unit. For some strange reason, I had in mind that they were about £400, don't ask me where I got that from! Makes you wonder what price the complete unit would be.....scary! If you could let me know about the unit that you might have in the workshop, I would be grateful, just in case the one Tim has is not suitable.....Thanks. Regards....Dave.

I forgot to say in my last post, i phoned a main dealer to ask the price of the module. £1465 with £245 knocked off for the old module!!!! Regards....Dave.

    ABS Module beyond repair!

My garage has just phoned me, the abs unit is back from ecu testing. The number on the sticker reads (Bosch) 082097-0-265-950-0-002 Does that sound ok, the number on the main unit is 0265-225-005., would have thought that both would have the 005 on the end, and not 002. Regards....Dave.

    ABS Module beyond repair!

Had a word with Tim this morning then passed the details on to the Indy that's looking after the car. The unit is off an Alpina V8 5 series, so just needs to be confirmed that it will be ok for my car before we go any further. Regards....Dave.

Can you give me the contact details for Tims, then I can have a word with him please. Seems the unit isn't back yet, so can't get the number off the sticker. Regards....Dave.

    ABS Module beyond repair!

I've just had a call from my local garage about my 2000 750i ABS Module. He sent it off for repair to ECU Testing.Com and it seems it's beyond repair. I don't know why at this stage, no doubt I'll find out later. So not sure where to go now, I need to get something sorted as the M.O.T. has expired. I would be extremely grateful for any help and ideas. Regards.....Dave.

Urgent help required re -ABS?DSC fault!

Thanks for the replies. I've got a feeling that I'm going to have to send the unit for repair, should have done it a couple of weeks ago, but having some health problems at the moment! Doesn't matter too much about the car being off the road, as we've got the Jazz that we use as the daily driver. Regards....Dave.
  11. Hi, Can anyone give me some help on how to test the wiring from the DSC Pressure Switch to the ABS/DSC Module. All 3 warning lights are on most of the time and when tested came up with " 81 pressure switch circuit" ( as near as I can remember ). The car is a 2000 E38 750i with DSC III Bosch5,7 system, which I think is the same as the later E39's. The M.O.T. is due on Monday, so it's a bit of a panic situation!!! Thanks in advance. Regards....Dave.

    New to BMW.

Hi Rich, I've enjoyed the Daimler, had it over 3yrs now, but I just fancied a change. The Straight Six engine is regarded by many as being the finest Jaguar ever made, pulls like a train, smooth, sounds great and 30+mpg on the motorway is no problem. The interior is pure class, I always refer to it as a poor mans Bentley! Used parts are plentiful, cheap tax and insurance, what more could a man want......apart from a V12! The Daimler was £30K more than the 4.0 Litre Jag, and it was all in the quality of trim, better leather, wood etc, like I said, I've enjoyed owning it. Dave.

I have to admit, when I first saw the car I wasn't too keen on the wheels, wasn't sure if they suited it, but they have grown on me. If I was to change them, it would probably be for M Pars, don't know how hard or easy they are to obtain? One thing I can say about the car, it's a thirsty beast, good job we've got the Jazz as a daily user, 40+mpg knocking about and 60+mpg on the motorway. I prefer the driving position over the Daimler and I think the seats are more comfortable, and it's certainly faster! Here's a pic of the Daimler.

Hi Rich, Yes, it's leather, I think it came as standard on a 750. Dave.

Yes, I knew about the spacing, I had new plates made before I picked it up. The plate doesn't mean anything to me as my initials are DB, but it came with the car and it looks good in my eyes. Also came with an extra 4:3 monitor, a 16:9 monitor, and a set of tinted rear lights. No idea if the extra monitors work at this time , if they do, I may install the widescreen one. Dave.
