  1. e39 Coding options whats available

Jimmy I recently bought the Bluetooth Carly adapter and iPhone software to use on the E65 I purchased. It's a great bit of kit and so easy to use for coding and diagnostics. On the basis that I'm likely to always have a Beemer of some sorts most of the time, I thought it was well worth the money - about £100 for the adapter and software.
  2. My 1st E39 wooohoooo

Hi Jimmy, only just found your thread! Did you get the boot sorted ok? Oh and not guilty on the wheel front! lol They do look good with polished rims. A couple of mates of mine have had them, but they do take a lot of looking after to keep them looking spangly!
  3. My E26!

    Brilliant!!
  4. Blanking swirl flaps is good?

    Nope, diesel auto only
  5. My third E39! :)

Well if all goes to plan, I'm picking up a silver 530i Sport Auto tomorrow morning - my first petrol E39 (Excuse the dull pics, it was getting dark!) I'll be the 12 owner! However, it's only got 125k miles on it, very clean indeed, especially inside there's little signs of wear. It's got four new tyres, a lot of new suspension and cooling system components and drives beautifully. Spec isn't too bad, not as good as my old 530d sadly. Prof sat nav (MK4), heated seats, a Baris upgraded amp with AUX and removable tow bar. Looking forward to burning some petrol for a change!!
  6. That’s sitting nice Dan. Bet it rides well too
  7. The Darkbmwlord and his E39 on a shoestring...

Did you use your indicators? If so, then the stereotype was not fulfilled!!
  8. Lancs Newbie - BMW 530d

Yep an old 5 series is a lot of car for the money
  9. It's certainly looking mighty fine Dan
  10. The story of E39 M5 AK03 DJJ (so far)

Have you ever thought about one of these Richard? http://www.raceglaze.co.uk/car-care-exterior/wash/400-litre-0ppm-car-washing-filter/ They come in different sizes and should negate the need for drying at all - you can air dry and have no water marks.
  11. What did you do to your E39 today ?

What will they do different for a fast road setup Dan?
  12. BMW Scanner 2.1.0

    Ah thanks man!
  13. BMW Scanner 2.1.0

Hey all! I don't know if anyone can help with this but I'm trying to get hold of a copy of BMW Scanner 2.1.0. I'm happy to pay for it but have so far only found one place in the US for about $1000! lol It's actually to use on an E65 (blasphemy her I guess!) so the 1.4.0 version wont work. Thanks in advance
  14. BMW Scanner 2.1.0

    Thanks Jimmy
  15. Wiring help

No just heat them gently to melt the solder. I used a hot air gun, with a thick, rubber type tile behind the wires so I didn't heat the car/paint itself!! Easy job, took no time at all really. Well it did, but quick relatively speaking! lol
  16. Wiring help

You may not need any cable at all. I used this type of pre-soldered connector when I last did this job - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Assortment-of-50solder-joints-most-popular-sizes-are-presorted/263131501524?_trkparms=ao%3D1%26asc%3D20170912101845%26meid%3Df540744cdcfc4113b2c57ad8f5484962%26pid%3D100705%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26&_trksid=p2045573.c100705.m4780 That's not necessarily the cheapest/best, just the first link I found. That made the job easy, cheap and they're not bulky either. Just buy some loom tape to cover it all up with once you're done.
  17. BMW Scanner 2.1.0

Thanks for the link Rosie. I had, but didn't find that. I wonder if it's the same software as they call it 2.0.1, not 2.1.0?? In any case, I decided to bite the bullet and buy Carly, so will see how that pans-out when the plug thing arrives! lol Thanks again
  18. My third E39! :)

You're not sleeping in it Jimmy!!
  19. My third E39! :)

Thanks Dan, it's not half bad!! There's a scuff on the front bumper, but it's on the trim insert where the parking sensors are so an easy sort and the alloys are in need of a refurb as a little bubbly. Other than that, it just needs a good detail - and an interior freshen up! It has auto boot opening on hydraulic rams but that's failed. Apparently a common issue with the pipes becoming porous and leaking fluid. Whilst there's no fluid sloshing about anywhere, you can smell hydraulic fluid in the car and especially when you open the boot. The only other item needing attention is an occasional knock on 1st-2nd and 2nd-1st gear. Sadly it didn't happen on the test drive. I'm pretty certain it's the prop guibo - again a common issue it seems. So I've ordered one for replacement. That's an easy enough job, just a lot to remove to get to it, including the exhaust system. The PO had it over 6 years and was only selling due to circumstances, he was gutted to see it go. It's certainly been well loved!
  20. My third E39! :)

Thanks chaps, will do. It will tie me over until I'm in a 39 again, which will happen!
  21. My third E39! :)

Thank you, it is a nice place to be. The leather is actually a little more green than it appears in the photos - I like it!
  22. My third E39! :)

Ok sussed it!! 'Bout time!! Pics courtesy of the sellers advert. It's not the prettiest car from the front, but it's an uber cruiser and damn fast when you boot it. I do still miss having an E39 to be honest, but this will tick some other boxes in the future for me.
