What did you do to your E39 today ?

Shampoo the car - you can get detox shampoo (Farcella do it) to take off as much residue of wax, polish etc. Then clay bar the car to ensure the paint is squeaky clean and free of contamination. You may need some glue and tar remover for any really stubborn spots. Then hit it (gently! lol) with the machine polisher. I use the Menzerna range of polishes - https://www.menzerna.com/products/polishes/car-polishes/ If you get ones with 'FG' after the number, it's 'Finished Gloss' so you can use a harder compound but still get a good finish without always having to do multiple stages. I do tend to finish with a fine one though. After that, a coat of sealer or wax to finish it off. Hope that helps

What did you do to your E39 today ?

That seems a reasonable price for all that work
  6. Wow great job on the seat Dan. Did he colour it? Has it made the rest of your interior look dirty by comparison now?

What did you do to your E60/61 today?

Agree, that's a lot of car for the money. Amazing what you can get for a couple of grand nowadays. I didn't pay too much more for my E65 745i, less than 100k miles and in good order too.

    What's being worked on today?

Holy crap!!!!!! That's a lot of torques!!

    What's being worked on today?

You say "An extra 70BHP and 380Nm of torque" - is that an extra 380Nm, or 380 total?

    What's being worked on today?

That's a decent increase on Mike's 525D. I bet it was all smiles on the drive home!!

    e39 Coding options whats available

Jimmy I recently bought the Bluetooth Carly adapter and iPhone software to use on the E65 I purchased. It's a great bit of kit and so easy to use for coding and diagnostics. On the basis that I'm likely to always have a Beemer of some sorts most of the time, I thought it was well worth the money - about £100 for the adapter and software.

    My 1st E39 wooohoooo

Hi Jimmy, only just found your thread! Did you get the boot sorted ok? Oh and not guilty on the wheel front! lol They do look good with polished rims. A couple of mates of mine have had them, but they do take a lot of looking after to keep them looking spangly!

    Blanking swirl flaps is good?

    Nope, diesel auto only

    My third E39! :)

Well if all goes to plan, I'm picking up a silver 530i Sport Auto tomorrow morning - my first petrol E39 (Excuse the dull pics, it was getting dark!) I'll be the 12 owner! However, it's only got 125k miles on it, very clean indeed, especially inside there's little signs of wear. It's got four new tyres, a lot of new suspension and cooling system components and drives beautifully. Spec isn't too bad, not as good as my old 530d sadly. Prof sat nav (MK4), heated seats, a Baris upgraded amp with AUX and removable tow bar. Looking forward to burning some petrol for a change!!
  20. That’s sitting nice Dan. Bet it rides well too

The Darkbmwlord and his E39 on a shoestring...

Did you use your indicators? If so, then the stereotype was not fulfilled!!

    Lancs Newbie - BMW 530d

The story of E39 M5 AK03 DJJ (so far)

Have you ever thought about one of these Richard? http://www.raceglaze.co.uk/car-care-exterior/wash/400-litre-0ppm-car-washing-filter/ They come in different sizes and should negate the need for drying at all - you can air dry and have no water marks.
