Intravee install headache - please help...

Hello again, I'm still having problems. I ordered a Tronix FTDI chipset usb to serial adapter, and another KCA-420i, complete with another set of cables to try and eliminate them being the cause, but it hasn't helped at all. I'm trying to update the firmware, but can't get past the first hurdle, when I open the downloader program it gives me an "error , cannot open serial port'com1' ". I'm using a dell laptop running Windows XP SP3. I'm stuck.

Intravee install headache - please help...

Thank you Richard, I'll try and update the firmware as soon as I get hold of serial to usb cable. When I first connected the ipod and it just started playing the first track, I wasn't able to return to the start of that track by using the Next or Prev, nothing would work , it was really flakey, going through various messages and I could hear my ipod make the sound where as if it was occasionlly being disconnected and then reconnected, thats why I thought it may be a bad connection with the 5v adapter, now I think it may be the kca-420i or cable from that to the ipod.

Intravee install headache - please help...

I just tried selecting the intravee source and it just displays 'no magazine'. I'll have a look tomorrow for a serial to usb cable, hope updating firmware helps, as I have never got this working at all except playing the first song with no control over the ipod.

Intravee install headache - please help...

Thank you for the tip, at least now I've eliminated one possible source of my problem, I was scared to remove the 5v adapter before, as I once destroyed a tomtom by feeding it 12v directly...
  9. Hello all, I have an e53 X5 with mkIV nav, and have been trying to connect an Intravee II with 6.01 firmware bought new, with an KCA-420i bought used, with an iphone4. Ive also tried an iphone 4S and an ipod touch 4th. No luck, my symtoms were at first it just played the first song, with no way of controlling the ipod, with it just going in out going to radio, then it said 'no ipod'; now it just says tr01-001 and above that cd1 then cd9 alternating every half second. I'm thinking the problem may be the KCA-420i, or the cable that runs from that to the ipod, or the 12v to 5v adapter, as it isn't a snug fit between it and the ipod, in fact it feels very loose. I may buy a couple different adapters on ebay, and maybe another kca-420i. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated .
